Born in Brimfield, Massachusetts,B.A. Bennington College, Vermont, M.A., Columbia University, ED.D.University of Massachusetts, art training at Art Students' League in NYC. Kathleen is an award winning contemporary artist living in Houston, Texas. Her work is often described as healing, serene, with a natural sense of color and boldness. She is a colorist who thrills to the reflections of light on water, density of atmosphere and the rough and tough in nature.
Statement: I draw inspiration from the "untouched" in nature:water lines that touch the earth, twigs, branches, the sensory experience of being on the land. I continue to go back to the ponds in the woods where I was born in Brimfield, Mass. It is a sensual affair with nature, always new and inspiring. My work reflects a sensory process, abstract, playful, peaceful and spontaneous. For me painting is most like choreographing a dance, sensations come alive, color, texture, and thick paint. I believe that the arts process is a sensory process and this applies to all art forms.
